Stephen Mallett

I developed a limp in my left leg late in 2021 and was diagnosed with MND in June 2022. I am 71 with a wife, 2 children and 3 grandchildren.
I worked in aviation for much of my life as well as latterly also being Chairman of a number of pension schemes.
Whilst I can see there has been progress towards finding a cure there is still a way to go from translating concept to reality. In moving matters forward who has the biggest interest in a breakthrough? – the patients. We need to move from a patient being a number to a name with family, relatives, friends and colleagues.
So, what will bring a breakthrough? Money to support and accelerate research and trials. Focus by all involved acknowledging that time is of the essence. Teamwork across all interested parties.
Is there still much to do? – Yes. Can patients make a difference through support and action? – Yes.
MND may have taken my body but I will fight so it does not take over my mind.
